Flavor Notes

"Great coffee and great cause come together with Mapendo. Incredible coffee from a unique region and supporting producers who's families have experienced the unthinkable."
CODY K, Director of Coffee

The Deets

This coffee comes to us from the Cooperative Agricole Muungano in Kalehe territory of South Kivu. Forty percent of Cooperative Agricole Muungano farmers are female, most of which are widows as a result of conflict in the region.

Exclusively grown from the SL34 variety, fully washed, fermented and dried on raised beds for up to 21 days, the result is something somewhat unfamiliar to many of us as Congolese coffee is not common in our offerings. This coffee sits on the western shores of Lake Kivu- on the eastern shoreline lies Rwanda and just south, Burundi.

Enjoy notes of Plum, Black Tea, and Citrus.
