In September of 2016, we had the pleasure of visiting the farm and meeting fifth-generation farm owner Miriam Monteiro de Aguiar.In a country dominated by enormous farms practicing chemical-intensive agriculture, Miriam isn’t your run-of-the-mill coffee producer. She holds a master’s degree in Rural Administration & Development and is a strong advocate for women within the specialty coffee industry.Starting in 1993 when she and her husband Rogério Daros converted Fazenda Cachoeira to an organic farm, Miriam has championed sustainable and biodynamic agriculture. More recently she has dedicated herself to pursuing quality in the cup by attaining her Q Grader license and outfitting a cupping lab right on the farm.
