About 20% of all of the green coffee we buy is Sumatra FTO, and almost all of it comes from Ketiara.  That's a lot of coffee! Much of what we source from Ketiara helps comprise our signature Blue Heeler.--------------------------------ABOUT QUEEN KETIARA COFFEE: In the Aceh region at the far northern tip of Sumatra lie the Gayo Highlands, where rich, volcanic soil and elevations between 1,200 and 1,500 meters create ideal growing conditions. This area is home to Koperasi Ketiara, a cooperative that has emerged recently as our primary source for Fair Trade and organic coffee. In addition to its strong attention to quality control, Ketiara is unique in that it’s a woman-led group in Sumatra's male-dominated coffee industry. The Queen Ketiara lots are produced entirely by female members of the co-op, and this recent arrival offers flavors of blackberry, dried plum, cedar, and spice with a medium-heavy body. Both events are free to attend & open to the public. The Back Room at Colectivo Prospect is at 2211 N.
