Hello, folks! We’re honored to announce an incredibly talented, Madison based, self-taught Nicaraguan-American artist, Jessica M. Gutiérrez and her reimagined Co-Optiva art.
Jessica Gutiérrez

Jessica’s artwork merges bold color, intuitive linework and floral detail with themes of healing, resilience and ancestral connection. It offers a vibrant interpretation of our classic Co-Optiva calavera skull, infusing it with her signature magic and emotional depth.
Statement from the Artist:
“When I was invited to reimagine the calavera for Colectivo, I was struck by the synchronicity—I had just purchased the Co-Optiva bag the day before. Though I didn’t grow up with Día de los Muertos, its spirit—vibrant colors, magical energy, joyful celebration, and honoring of ancestors—resonates deeply.”
