What does Regenerative Organic Certified® mean?
When a coffee has this certification, it means it was grown using farming practices that are good for the planet. These agricultural practices go way beyond just being sustainable—they actually make the land better over time. Regenerative Organic Certified® coffee is grown in a way that help farmers earn fair wages, keep soil healthy and full of nutrients and support the communities where the coffee comes from. The whole process is carried out openly and with full transparency, so you know exactly where your coffee came from and how it was grown. ROC uses USDA Certified Organic standards as a baseline. From here it adds the three major pillars of regenerative organic agriculture into one certification.
Why is ROC important?
We can probably all agree that soil is at the heart of all things food. Several forecasts have predicted that the global topsoils will be fully depleted in about 60 years if we were to continue business as usual. Following Regenerative Organic Certified® practices ensures that we will have good soil to continue farming into the future ahead. It takes the bigger picture into account, keeping the entirety of the farm ecosystem in mind—along with an emphasis on our soil health.

Soil Health, Animal Welfare and Social Fairness.
These are the three pillars that make up Regenerative Organic Certifications.
Soil health is incredibly important to us. If our soils were ever to be fully depleted, it would only spell disaster for the entirety of the food chain and more. From the yields from harvest, to the availability of foods and other materials we use in our current daily lives. Following the standards that the Regenerative Organic Alliance has set for us will allow our soil to build organic matter.
Animal Welfare ensures that we uphold the highest standards emphasizing pasture-based systems, humane treatment and the ability for animals to express natural behaviors. Animals should have freedom from hunger, discomfort, fear, pain, injury and disease.
Social Fairness is a pillar because it establishes standards for those who grow our crops. It grants protections for farmers and workers including fair pay, safe working conditions, and respect for human rights.
